When We Meet

Sunday Services

COVID-19 Arrangements:

Due to the restrictions we are all facing because of the pandemic our Sunday service is currently available online through our Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/sbcLiveLight/-

or our YouTube channel:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsZQ5gJq-xHwFrFoasY08fw

It is premiered at 10.30am on Sunday mornings and followed by virtual coffee on Zoom, details of which are available at the end of each service.

We are seeking to make these times characterised by accessibility for all ages, a high level of participation and involvement and a continuing commitment to be family with Christ at the centre.

Additionally, we are continuing to run youthwork, provide children’s materials for families, deliver monthly Messy Church and run two Facebook Live Prayer opportunities on Thursday at 8am and Sunday at 6pm.

We are beginning to explore opportunities to meet physically and are being guided in our thinking by four principles provided by the Baptist Union:

  • The safety of the church and our wider community
  • Seeking to be as inclusive as possible
  • Looking for missional opportunity where it arises from this unusual setting
  • Working sustainably within the limits of our resources.

More details will appear on the website as they are available.

If you visit us on a Sunday, our service starts each week at 10.30am, and is preceded by a time of prayer from 10am to which all are invited. The service finishes around 12 noon. Our time together includes teaching, sung worship and storytelling, and is a time to hear about and share how our lives are working out.

Our regular Sunday morning service is a place to come and celebrate the goodness of God, to hear Bible teaching and to be equipped for the everyday life of following Jesus. Ours is an informal but passionate gathering and usually includes lively times of sung worship, storytelling, Bible teaching and prayer which includes intercession, crying out to God for our world and space for personal ministry in praying for one another. We want people to come and participate, not spectate and encourage as many as possible to take the opportunity to serve in making these times the best they can be for everyone.

Our service ends with the opportunity to share coffee and news.

Children’s sessions are run during the service from 11am till 12pm for pre-school, Key Stage One, Key Stage Two and Key Stage Three ages.

Feast Sundays

Second Sunday of each month (except Easter & Christmas)

Some Sundays our Beacons meet in other places so it is important to know that one Sunday of each month is the time we all come together! These Sundays are called Feasts. The pattern of our meeting is similar to other weeks although we are looking to be deliberately celebratory on these weeks and through storytelling and teaching be reminded of who we are in Christ all together. As a key part of this, Feast Sundays end with the sharing of communion, which reminds us of the still point from which our ministry begins and to which we return - the cross of Christ. Children’s sessions are run during the service from 11am until 12.10pm for pre-school and Key Stage one ages.
